Adoption Programs
Each family need is unique, just as you are.

We Want to Help You Make Good Choices! There are many things to be considered, such as personalities and resources of family members already with you, the extended family and community in which you reside, your desire to parent, attitudes and expectations, children available and others. Important preparation and trust are all part of making these good choices.

You Want to Feel Ready as your adoption decisions are made. Good preparation and information can help everyone in the adoption process to be comfortable and confident.

AGENCY INFANT PROGRAM
We have a parent profile listing for those who wish to be involved in agency infant adoptions. We operate our Agency Program by the birth parent selecting an adoptive family or drawing families randomly for birth parents wanting an agency selection. Everyone wishing to register must attend an informational session at one of the CAC offices and must have completed a Community Adoption Center, Inc home study.

INDEPENDENT PROGRAM
Independent adoption is when birthparent(s) and adoptive parents find one another through a source other than an adoption agency. They may meet through acquaintances, a physician, pastor, attorney, newspaper ad, Internet, etc. When this connection is made, an agency is involved as required by the state statutes.

Interstate adoptions occur when a child is born in one state and adopted by parents living in a different state.  Before a child born in one state can be taken to another state for the purpose of adoption, both the state where the child was born and the state where teh child is going, must give approval.  The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) is a law in all 50 states therefore, all states have a special office to deal with ICPC.

We will respond immediately to your request for a home study and any needed services, in our state.

Interstate adoptions are done through the agency regularly when either the adoptive family or the birth parent lives in Wisconsin.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM
Many people are finding that international adoption of infants and children is the answer to their search in completing their family.

Countries: We have international contacts in many countries. We will help you select the most appropriate resources from a variety of international agency resources. Costs for agency work and transportation vary with country and amount of work done by international agency staff.

Children Available: This depends on the country and other criteria. Some seek only married couples, others accept singles. Laws also vary as you make choices of country, etc.

Children in sibling groups, with any medically correctable problems or with handicaps will be available for adoption in this program. Families willing to accept medical or developmental  problems will find many children available, and thus a shorter waiting time.

SPECIAL NEEDS
Children who are available for adoption in the United States can be placed in your family through private or public agencies. Our agency will help put you in touch with resources for these children.

Sibling groups and children who have had multiple foster home placements, developmental or abusive difficulties, or with medical problems, are available in the program. We will work with your family to help you find a child appropriate for you and to help you integrate that child into your family.

Financial Aid: Financial assistance is available thru Federal Adoption Tax Credit, Grants and Loans.
